Petition: Marty Grenfell must go

After repeated failures under Chief Executive Marty Grenfell’s leadership, an apology and another promise to do better are not enough.

Six people lost their lives in the Mauao landslide, and the subsequent review by former High Court Judge Paul Davison found the landslide risk was known by the council and the organisation missed opportunities, over 27 years, to take actions that could have prevented the deaths.

We say that given the findings of the review any ethical and resonsible professional in the CEO's role would have resigned.

Instead, Marty Grenfell is trying to stay put! If accountability is to mean anything at Tauranga City Council, Mr Grenfell needs to go.
